Southaven Fire Department urges locating AEDs during National CPR and AED Awareness Week

Southaven Fire Department said it is National CPR and AED Awareness Week and urged residents to locate automated external defibrillators, known as AEDs.

The department said an AED may not provide entertainment, but it can give a person a second chance at life.

Southaven Fire Department said when sudden cardiac arrest strikes, every second counts. The department said knowing the location of a nearby AED can dramatically increase the chances of survival while waiting for emergency medical services.

The department urged Americans to learn CPR and how to use an AED and called for greater community preparedness to improve public safety.
