The Southaven Fire Department advised people to stop using a device immediately if its battery smells unusual, feels warm, makes popping noises, changes shape or color, or shows smoke. The department said a damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.
If it is safe to do so, users should move the device away from anything that could catch fire. The department directed readers to fpw.org for more information.
