Olive Branch officials warn of dangerous heat across Mississippi
Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams and the Olive Branch Police Department and Fire Department warned residents that the state is under a Level 3 — Significant Heat Risk today and urged precautions against extreme heat.
They said high temperatures will be in the upper 90s to the low 100s, with heat indices reaching 110 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. The officials warned that heat stroke becomes increasingly likely with prolonged outdoor activity.
Officials advised people to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks from the heat and watch for signs of heat illness. They also warned never to leave people or pets in vehicles.
The departments recommended limiting strenuous outdoor activity and spending time in air-conditioned or shaded areas. “Stay safe and stay cool, Mississippi,” the officials said.
