Olive Branch to begin park repairs after July 4 storm
Olive Branch officials said they are moving to restore park amenities damaged in the July 4 storm and expect a tree service contract to be in place this week to begin clearing downed trees and hanging limbs. Mayor Ken Adams said in a news release that a contractor will begin repairs to certain facilities by early next week.
The city said open facilities include disc golf holes 1, 2 and 3, two tennis courts, all pickleball courts, the track, athletic fields, a 2-mile walking trail and the existing walking trail at the Soccer Complex.
Closed facilities include the remainder of the disc golf course and the nature trail because of downed trees and hanging limbs, and Olive Bark Park, where repairs to the dog park fence are needed, the release said.
The release said an additional walking trail is under construction at the Soccer Complex and will open to the public soon, and that the existing trail there is fully open. Officials urged residents to use other city parks and recreational amenities that remain open while work continues.
Mayor Ken Adams thanked residents for their patience and said the city will provide updates as repairs progress, the release said.
