Olive Branch urges residents to check smoke detector batteries as clocks fall back
The City of Olive Branch is reminding residents that daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 1, and clocks should be turned back one hour. The city said the seasonal time change is also an appropriate time to check or replace smoke detector batteries.
Detectors that are 10 years old or older should be replaced, according to the city. It also noted that smoke detectors wired into a home’s electrical system have backup batteries that should be checked or changed in the same way as batteries in standalone detectors.
