Police Week 2026 commemorates Crenshaw Police Officer Leo ‘Butch’ Parrish Jr., who was shot and killed during a traffic stop on April 1, 1989, according to law enforcement sources.
Officer Parrish responded to a domestic violence suspect during the stop. The suspect was later apprehended in Tate County and served time in the state penitentiary, authorities said.
He is buried in Longtown Cemetery. Law enforcement officials remember him as a hero who gave his life in the line of duty.
