Olive Branch offers text alerts as storms approach
Mayor Ken Adams and the Olive Branch Police and Fire departments said residents can sign up for emergency alerts specific to Olive Branch by texting “olivebranch” to 888777.
The officials reminded residents that a watch means conditions are possible and a warning means take action immediately, Mayor Ken Adams and the departments said.
City officials said showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop along and ahead of an approaching cold front Tuesday afternoon west of the Mississippi River. They said a few of the storms may become strong to severe, with damaging winds as the primary threat.
Officials said weak shear should limit the coverage of organized severe weather and that any lingering activity will weaken Tuesday evening as instability decreases across the Mid-South. They urged residents to sign up for alerts to receive timely information.
