Garden club sees “Traditional Design” arrangement displayed

At the March meeting of the DeSoto Civic Garden Club that was held at the home of Sandy Noble in Southaven, club member Emilie Michael displayed her flower arrangement that was considered a “Traditional Design.“This arrangement was constructed to coincide with the garden club’s program, “Sustainable Gardening.”

In doing so, Emilie used a pottery cabbage dish for her base and an actual cabbage head as her container for the arrangement. The colors exemplified in the arrangement were pink and lavender hues.

Her flowers in the cabbage head consisted of carnations, Alstroemeria, mums, lilies, Gerber daisies and snapdragons. This monthly sharing of different kinds of flower arrangements by the garden club members is to further the club’s knowledge of horticulture and design.

The DeSoto Civic Garden Club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc., and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc., Hills and Delta District.
