The March meeting of the DeSoto Civic Garden Club (DCGC) met at the M.R. Davis Public Library in Southaven.
During that time, the program entitled, “Creativity in Our Gardens” was given by guest speaker, Cherie Blakley of Rosemark, TN, who is also a member of The Garden Clubs of Rosemark and a master gardener.
In her presentation, Cherie showed creative ways to enhance one’s garden by using simple everyday objects such as clay pots of various sizes that are glued to make a birdbath. Other ideas were the use of paint stirrers for plant markers and colored bottles on tomato stakes in a group for color. A broken handle from a garden rake could also be used as a hanging rack for garden tools.
The following picture exemplifies an example of a display that was shown at a home and garden show in Tennessee that depicts this type of creativity.

Top left of the photo is a sweet wind dancer lady whose skirt flows in the wind.
She stands behind a teapot and teacup bird feeder mounted on reclaimed wood.
In front there is a birdbath made from recycled clay terra-cotta pots and a bird feeder made from a chicken feeder, quart jar, and an old dinner plate.
Cherie stated that by using one’s creativity to achieve interest in their garden would make gardening fun and informative.
