Holly Springs Road project wins engineering award

When the reconstruction of Holly Springs Road was completed it was touted as a major effort of DeSoto County to make sure an important arterial road remains open and free from flooding. 

Now, the Board of Supervisors and Waggoner Engineering have been awarded the 2024 Engineering Excellence Grand Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies. The award was presented during the recent Engineering Excellence Awards Ceremony.  

The construction of the 2.6-mile segment of Holly Springs Road was completed in December 2022, It was one of the most extensive local road developments in the history of DeSoto County. It raised the road out of the floodplain and straightened dangerous curves.

Waggoner Engineering served as the primary consultant for the project and worked with on planning, surveying, design, funding support, and construction phase services.
