The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors and the City of Hernando will host a community gathering at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the fountain in front of the County Administration Building in Hernando, officials said.

The pond near Complex C will be closed from noon May 6 until 9 a.m. May 9 for park maintenance in preparation for Saturday’s Children’s Fishing Rodeo, Mayor Ken Adams said.

Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams thanked nurses for their compassion and hard work, saying they make a world of difference in the city.

DeSoto Family Theatre said registration is open for two summer musical-theatre camps: “Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr.” June 15-26 for ages 8-16 and “Legally Blonde, Jr.” July 6-17 for ages 12-16.

Olive Branch police said DeSoto Road was reopened after Northcentral Electric Company repaired a light pole; officers had directed traffic during the closure.

The PCSO thanked correctional officers for their work as National Correctional Officers Week runs May 3-9, the agency said.
