DeSoto County, Hernando to mark 75th National Day of Prayer Thursday

The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors and the City of Hernando will host a gathering at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2026, in front of the County Administration Building at 365 Losher St. in Hernando, the board and city said.

Officials said the event will mark the 75th annual National Day of Prayer and will be held at the fountain in front of the administration building. They described the observance as a time for the community to come together in reflection and hope.

The hosts said the 2026 theme artwork features an image of George Washington kneeling in prayer in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary. The board and city said the observance is a longstanding tradition to seek guidance, strength and peace for the county, state and nation.

The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors and the City of Hernando invited residents to attend the morning gathering, the board and city said.
