Rose named MVP, all-county volleyball teams announced

Tournament awards were presented Saturday, Oct. 3, during the DeSoto County volleyball tournament at Hernando High School. 

Lake Cormorant’s Alaijiah Rose was named DeSoto County Most Valuable Player. Entering week, Rose, a six-foot senior outside hitter, was leading the Lady Gators with 233 kills, 52 aces, and 34 blocks.

First-team all-county selections were: Ellie Jones (Lewisburg), Chloe Steen (Center Hill), Megan Harris and Gracie Tacker (DeSoto Central), along with Rylee Eyster and Emme Muizers (Hernando).

Second-team county choices were: Micah Swift (Lewisburg), Annah Marshall (Lake Cormorant), Kaillyn Johnson (Olive Branch), Olivia Hines (Center Hill), and Jaclyn Carter (Hernando). 

Honorable mention picks were Maddy McClendon (Southaven), Amonie Silas (DeSoto Central), Erin Latham (Lewisburg), and Tyreahnna Tillman (Center Hill)
