Rain threat moves football games to Thursday
Some of Friday’s high school football games for DeSoto County teams are being moved back to Thursday, Oct. 8 due to the expected threat of rain associated with Hurricane Delta, which as of late morning Tuesday is now a Category 4 hurricane. Weather forecasts are predicting a good chance of rain to invade the area as the remnants of the storm reach the Mid-South.
One key DeSoto County clash in MHSAA 6A is Olive Branch at Horn Lake, which Tuesday announced it was moving the contest to Thursday night.
Another contest being moved involves Center Hill hosting Lafayette (Oxford). It now will also be played on Thursday evening.
The Oxford-DeSoto Central contest had already been part of a two-week cessation of football activities for DeSoto Central for COVID-19 concerns. As region games, DeSoto Central must forfeit this and next week’s game due to the virus.
Hernando at Lewisburg has been moved to a Thursday start.
Lake Cormorant at West Point is now a Thursday night contest.
Tupelo at Southaven is now canceled due to Southaven quarantines. The cancellation became a forfeit against Southaven.
Munford, Tenn. at Northpoint Christian is still scheduled for Friday night at this time.
