Youngsters hurt in ATV accident

Officials are reminding DeSoto County residents that it is illegal to drive ATVs on public roadways after an accident that seriously injured two youngsters. At the same time, it was pointed out that when using four-wheelers, the use of helmets is of utmost safety importance.  

The children were hurt late Saturday afternoon about 5:20 p.m., according to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department, which described the four-wheeler accident as serious and involved two juveniles.  

Deputies, emergency services and the Bridgetown Fire Department responded.

The Sheriff’s Department said both youngsters were wearing helmets, which it said kept the accident result from being much worse.
