DeSoto County set to sparkle on the Fourth 

Fireworks will be set off in DeSoto County cities around the Fourth of July again this year to celebrate America’s birthday. Each city has scheduled events in honor of Independence Day that annually attract thousands to enjoy the extravaganza. 

Horn Lake’s event will start the celebrations on Saturday, July 1 at Latimer Lakes Park. The free event will have a Kids Zone and food vendors, and music. The gates will open at 4 p.m. with a fireworks display starting at 9:15 p.m.  

The Olive Branch activities will be on Monday, July 3 at City Park. Kids Zone, food vendors, and music will be featured. Gates open at 4 p.m. and fireworks will start at 9 p.m.  

In Hernando, the city’s celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 4 at the Civic Center Ball Fields, located at 3800 Robertson Gin Road. Activities will begin at 4 p.m. when the gates will open. Fireworks will be set off at 9 p.m. The event will also feature at Kids Zone, food vendors, and music.  

Southaven will celebrate the Fourth at BankPlus Amphitheater, also on July 4, again with music, food vendors and a Kids Zone. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with fireworks filling the sky at 9 p.m.
