Winter hours start at rubbish pits this weekend

Winter hours go into effect at the DeSoto County rubbish pits this weekend.  Starting Saturday, Nov, 20 the rubbish pits will be open Monday – Friday 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 7 a.m.-12 noon.

There are three rubbish pits in DeSoto County. 

*5255 West Sandidge Road, Olive Branch, MS 38654 (Operated by DeSoto County)

*9353 StarLanding Road West, Lake Cormorant, MS 38671 (Privately Operated)

*11250 Old Hwy 178, Olive Branch, MS 38654 (Privately Operated – Closed on Saturdays)

The Rubbish Pits are for disposal of:

Appliances

Furniture

Leaves

Limbs

Non-household garbage

Additional Services at Sandidge Rubbish Pit:

*Tires (Limit of 25 tires per month – No Commercial Vendors )

*E-waste & TV Recycling 

NOTE: The Rubbish Pit cannot accept household garbage, food containers, or batteries.
