WingFest at Silo Square Coming to Southaven Oct. 24

Wing fans in DeSoto County have a new date to circle. The inaugural WingFest at Silo Square is Saturday, Oct. 24, from noon to 4 p.m. in Southaven. Central BBQ is presenting the afternoon of wings, competition, and family activities, and part of the proceeds will benefit Southaven Middle School, according to the event listing on the Southaven Chamber of Commerce calendar.

What to Expect at WingFest at Silo Square

Organizers are billing the event as a first-time celebration and competition. Planned activities include:

  • $1 party wing deals during the event
  • A wing-eating competition with limited spots
  • Vendors and live music
  • Kid-friendly activities and special guests

The event poster promises “fun for the whole family,” so it should be a good stop for parents looking for a Saturday outing before Halloween week.

Wing-Eating Contest Sign-Up

Anyone who wants to test their appetite in the wing-eating competition must sign up ahead of time. Registration is through Central BBQ’s website at eatcbq.com. The listing says space is limited, so competitors should register early. No admission price for the festival itself was listed.

Supporting Southaven Middle School

A portion of the money raised at WingFest will go to Southaven Middle School. Events like this give local schools extra support for student programs, and they give families a fun way to pitch in.

Silo Square is a mixed-use development in Southaven, and Central BBQ, a Memphis-style barbecue restaurant, has a location there, so the festival will be right at its doorstep. The Oct. 24 date also lands in a busy month for Southaven, which has rodeos, trunk-or-treats, and fall festivals on the calendar.

Tips for Attending

The festival runs only four hours, and the $1 wing deals are likely to draw a crowd, so arriving early is a smart move. Families with young children may want to bring a stroller or wagon. Competitors in the wing-eating contest should check their registration details on the Central BBQ site before the event, including check-in time.

Late October afternoons in DeSoto County are usually mild, but it is worth checking the forecast that week. Questions about the event can go to the Southaven Chamber of Commerce at 662-342-6114 or info@southavenchamber.com. The Chamber lists the event on its community calendar, along with other fall happenings around the city.
