Tornado watch issued until 5 a.m.; safe room opened

Local officials said a tornado watch was issued at 9:50 p.m. Monday and will remain in effect until 5 a.m. CDT.

The Community Safe Room at 7312 Highway 51 has been opened to all residents and will stay open for the duration of the watch, officials said.

Officials urged residents to monitor the weather closely and be prepared to take immediate shelter if an actual tornado occurs.
