At 8 p.m. CDT Tuesday, local officials issued a tornado watch for the area that will remain in effect until 10 p.m. CDT, officials said.
Officials said the Community Safe Room at 7312 Highway 51 has been opened to all residents and will remain available for the duration of the watch.
Authorities urged residents to monitor weather updates closely and be prepared to take immediate shelter if a tornado is reported or confirmed, officials said.
