Tornado watch issued for DeSoto County until 5 a.m.; officials urge vigilance
A tornado watch was issued at 9:46 p.m. Wednesday for DeSoto County and is in effect until 5 a.m., DeSoto County Government and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office said.
Earlier at 8:45 p.m., Mayor Ken Adams and the Olive Branch Police and Fire departments posted that the county was not under a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch but that the threat for strong to severe storms would continue overnight, the posts said.
Officials urged residents to remain weather aware and to ensure they have a means to receive severe weather alerts, the agencies said.
The county and local agencies directed residents to their latest posts for updates and advised following local emergency channels for additional information, they said.
