The start of Monday’s DeSoto County Board of Supervisors meeting included a presentation of a Resolution of Gratitude to the family of John Drew Bynum, noted as a leader in the Fairview community of the county.

A former star baseball pitcher, Bynum is credited with founding and equipping the Fairview Community Ballpark back in 1972. Bynum provided upkeep of the fields and made sure they were open to anyone. The diamonds were also available for community events. The Ballpark is now maintained by DeSoto County.  Bynum passed away in 2021.

Supervisor Jessie Medlin read the proclamation to Bynum’s family at Monday’s meeting.
