The Bridgetown Fire Department is about to get an additional fire station with the development of the Short Fork Planned Unit Development, or PUD, off Getwell Road and Holly Springs Road near Hernando.
Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. Board of Supervisors board president Michael Lee and members of the Bridgetown Fire Department will meet with developers of the Short Fork PUD at the site of what will be a new fire station on Getwell Road.
The developer is providing the land for the fire station as part of the development.
When completed, Short Fork PUD is expected to have more than 600 homes with a town center, office space, a restaurant, and other amenities.
The project site of 951 acres is primarily east of Getwell Road and north of Holly Springs Road. While including all of the amenities into the plan, developers stated in its master development plan to the county that 74 percent of the site’s wooded areas, open space, lakes, streams and steep terrain will be retained, making it what they said was an “agricultural conservation community.”
