Pair charged with shooting at a squad car

Two men have been arrested in Memphis and are charged with firing at a Horn Lake Police squad car. 

The pair have been identified as Kylen Thomas, age 20 of Memphis, and Xavier Word, age 21 of Olive Branch. 

Thomas and Word are charged with being fugitives from justice without a warrant. Thomas has also been charged with felony fleeing and eluding law enforcement and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Word is also charged with felony aggravated assault on a police officer. 

They are being held without bond at 201 Poplar. Both have a court date set for Monday, June 28 at 9 a.m. and are awaiting extradition back to Mississippi.

Both were found in Memphis without incident along with the vehicle they were traveling in.  

Thursday night, shots were fired at a Horn Lake Police vehicle near the intersection of Tulane Road and Mayfair Drive.

A chase took place that continued into Memphis.
