Salmonella causes frozen shrimp recall

If you enjoy frozen cooked shrimp from your local supermarket, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a warning for you about a specific brand you may find in the store’s frozen foods section.

Frozen cooked shrimp supplied by Avanti Frozen Foods is being recalled because of a salmonella outbreak.

The good news in Mississippi right now is, while the products are sold nationwide, the people that became sick with salmonella have been restricted to only Nevada.

There have been six illnesses and two hospitalizations as a result.

The recalled product is sold under several different brands, including 365, Censea, Chicken of the Sea, CWNO, Hannaford, Honest Catch, Meijer, Open Acres, and Waterfront Bistro.

Each product has specific code numbers that are found on this link:

The CDC said products not having the specific code numbers are not included in the recall and are safe to eat.
