Olive Branch promotes officer TreVoris Word to patrol sergeant
On May 11, 2026, Mayor Ken Adams, the Board of Aldermen and Police Chief Carlos E. Garcia recognized Officer TreVoris Word following his promotion to patrol sergeant, the City of Olive Branch said.
Word was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to Adrian Word and Aaron Gunn III, the city said. He attended Coahoma Agricultural High School and graduated from Southaven High School in 2014. He earned an associate degree in pre-nursing from Coahoma Community College in May 2016, attended Jackson State University as a biology major and completed a bachelor of science in health science at the University of Memphis in May 2020, the city said.
From 2020 to 2022, Word taught physical science and served as an assistant football coach at Southaven High School, the city said. He began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer in May 2022 and has served as a CIT officer, DUI officer and field training officer.
The city said Word aspires to expand his leadership within law enforcement and increase his impact through community service. City officials asked residents to join them in congratulating Sgt. TreVoris Word and said they have confidence he will serve the department with integrity.
