The Olive Branch Police Department promoted Officer Tyler Taylor to patrol sergeant on July 10, 2026, the department said. Mayor Ken Adams, the Olive Branch Board of Aldermen and Chief Carlos E. Garcia were on hand to recognize the promotion, the department said.

According to the department, Taylor was born in Memphis to Bill and Angie Taylor and graduated from Marshall Academy in Holly Springs in 2011. The department said he worked as an 18-wheel truck driver before joining the Olive Branch Police Department in 2020.

The department said Taylor began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer and has served in several specialized roles, including the Crisis Intervention Team, as a field training officer, as a firearms instructor and as a member of the Olive Branch SWAT team. The department said his dedication and leadership contributed to the promotion.

The Olive Branch Police Department said Taylor is married and has children who support his career. The department invited the public to join city leaders in congratulating Taylor and said he intends to expand his leadership within the department while continuing community service and public safety work.
