Olive Branch sergeant named Officer of the Month after pursuit and arrest

The Olive Branch Police Department named Sgt. Brian McDurmon its Officer of the Month for June 2026, the department said.

On June 4, 2026, McDurmon took command of a high-risk scene after a burglary suspect fled from officers and a vehicle pursuit ended in a crash, the department said. He coordinated a felony stop and the suspect was taken into custody without injury to officers, the suspect or members of the public, the statement said.

The department said its investigation indicated the suspect was believed to be connected to a burglary at a local business and a series of thefts across multiple jurisdictions. The department credited McDurmon’s leadership, tactical decision-making and calm command presence for the successful apprehension.

The announcement, posted by the City of Olive Branch, said McDurmon consistently exemplifies professionalism, integrity and dedication. The city included the name of Mayor Ken Adams with the announcement and congratulated McDurmon on the recognition.
