Horn Lake Police share Paul Harvey message for National Police Week

The Horn Lake Police Department posted that a passage from broadcaster Paul Harvey resonates during National Police Week, the department said.

The post said the role of a police officer has not changed and “still takes sacrifice,” “still takes courage” and requires someone “willing to run toward what others run from,” the department wrote.

It listed long nights, missed holidays, danger and the responsibility “to stand between chaos and the people they serve, selflessly.” The department said National Police Week honors those who “wore the badge with purpose,” those who still serve and those “who gave everything in service to others.”

The department urged readers to “take a moment and listen” and said “the words still matter.” The post included the hashtags #PoliceWeek, #BackTheBlue, #ServeAndProtect and #NeverForgotten, the department said.
