Olive Branch Police Department warns of latest phone scam

Olive Branch Police say they are receiving phone calls from residents about a new scam attempt going around.

Police say the residents are getting phone calls from someone claiming to be with the Olive Branch Police Department. They caller is requesting money from the person they are calling into.

The Olive Branch Police Department does not request money or personal information over the telephone, police say, and the attempt for money over the phone is a scam.

According to OBPD, anyone getting calls like this should try to get as much information as possible, such as the caller’s name, call back number, date and time of the call, etc. That information should then be relayed to the police department at 662-895-4111.

Don’t send any money or provide your own personal information to the caller before verifying the caller’s true identity in any phone call of this type, police warn.
