Major Roberson said he received a text message this morning from the number 689-342-5523 that claimed to be from a “Civil Enforcement Department of the Mississippi Court” and referenced “Mississippi District Court Jurisdiction.”
He said the message came from area code 689, which he identified as Orlando, Florida, and that there is no “Civil Enforcement Department of the Mississippi Court” and no “Mississippi District Court Jurisdiction.”
Roberson said the message listed no fine amount and included the web address “ms.govolql.autos/dmv,” which he called suspicious and warned recipients not to click. He wrote in the message, “SCAM, SCAM, SCAM! DELETE, DELETE, DELETE!”
Roberson urged anyone who receives a similar message to delete it and avoid following any links or providing personal information, he said.
