Two Hernando mixed-use developments are moving forward on the city’s east side. New businesses are opening at Delta Landing off McIngvale Road, and construction crews are busy at The Collection at Getwell Farms near Getwell Road and Interstate 269. WREG reported on the progress Monday, Sept. 28, 2026. Both projects mix homes, shops, and restaurants, and together they point to where much of Hernando’s growth is headed.
Delta Landing Fills Up With Residents and Shops
Delta Landing is a 251-acre planned community on the west side of McIngvale Road, south of Pleasant Hill. It is the furthest along of the two. According to the WREG report, more than 125 tenants have rented or moved into its apartments, and more than 100 families now live in its residential units.
The commercial side is starting to fill in too:
19 Delta Nutrition opened Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 6 a.m.
Refined Roots, a hair salon, is already open.
Two Crazy Fellas is expected to open before the end of the year.
VSL Nail Salon is planned for 2027.
Marion McBride, marketing director for Skylake Construction and Delta Landing, told WREG the goal is a place that serves more than the people who live there. “We really want this to be a place that’s not only for the residents who live here, but that the greater Hernando can appreciate and can find the amenities and things that they want right here close to home,” McBride said.

YMCA Groundbreaking Expected This Fall
The biggest piece of Delta Landing is still to come. The planned Dan Maddox YMCA is expected to break ground at the end of October or the beginning of November, according to the report. The facility is planned to include a lazy river, a natatorium, and classes for students and seniors, with an opening targeted for 2027.
The YMCA project has been in the works for more than a year. Sky Lake Construction is donating a pad-ready site, and the Maddox Foundation pledged $30 million toward the facility in 2025. The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi has also contributed $2 million.
Collection at Getwell Farms Takes Shape Near I-269
A few miles away, The Collection at Getwell Farms is at an earlier stage. No businesses have opened there yet, but construction is underway on a Buffalo Wild Wings GO, a Dunkin’ location, and other tenants, WREG reported.
Earlier plans for the site near Getwell Road and I-269 show housing on the south end, space for a large retailer such as a grocery or department store, room for hotels, and additional restaurants. Its spot near the interstate is expected to draw both travelers and local shoppers.
What It Means for Hernando
Hernando has leaned on mixed-use planning to widen its tax base. Commercial space generates sales tax, which houses alone do not. Both developments are being built in phases, so more openings are likely over the next few years. Residents in the Getwell and McIngvale corridors should expect continued construction traffic as work goes on.
