The Southaven Police Department announced the latest graduates of its CIT program, without providing a number of graduates or identifying them in the post. The department said it partners with Region IV and Catherine Davis to provide the training to its officers and personnel at other area agencies.
According to the Southaven Police Department, the program gives first responders knowledge and skills to safely respond to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. The class includes de-escalation techniques, communication strategies, suicide intervention, and guidance on connecting people with appropriate resources and treatment.
