Olive Branch Citizens Police Academy ends with EVOC and drone demonstration

The Olive Branch Police Department said Citizens Police Academy Class 33 completed its training last week with hands-on Emergency Vehicle Operator Course exercises and a live drone demonstration.

Major Reginald Harris, Lt. Bill Higdon and Detective Randall Fisher led the EVOC training, the department said. Class members navigated a driving course to learn control, awareness and decision-making during emergency responses.

Detective Joshua Ford demonstrated the department’s drone technology, showing how it can monitor and track a vehicle from a distance and provide officers with aerial support and real-time information, the department said.

The evening began with introductions from Major Reginald Harris. The department said class members were also introduced to Lt. Ashley Holladay, Detective LaDarrius Triplett and Detective Julie Humble.

The department thanked Longview Heights Baptist Church for allowing use of its parking lot for the training and referenced Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams, the department’s post said.
