Olive Branch basketball team placed in quarantine

The latest group to be directly affected by the coronavirus pandemic is the Olive Branch High School boys’ basketball team. 

DeSoto County School District officials and boys’ basketball coach Eric Rombaugh confirmed Tuesday evening that several members of the Conquistadors team were placed in quarantine after they came in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case. 

Rombaugh said the quarantines among his squad number 16. 

“A player tested positive over the weekend, so we did our contact tracing and since he was at school on Friday,” Rombaugh wrote in a text. “We put the rest of the team in quarantine.”

According to DeSoto County Schools, the parents of the quarantined students were contacted with information from the Mississippi State Department of Health. Once the cases were confirmed, the appropriate cleaning procedures were implemented.
