Crossing guard struck at DeSoto Central Primary

Traffic was backed up at DeSoto Central Primary School in Southaven Friday morning after a crossing guard was struck at the entrance to the school.

Southaven Police has provided updated information about what happened.

One of our crossing guards, was directing traffic at DeSoto Central Primary when they were struck by a motorist. They were struck from behind in the center lane.  The crossing guard was wearing proper safety gear while directing traffic.  The operator of the vehicle remained on scene along with other witnesses.  The crossing guard was transported to Regional One for back and leg pain and is in non-critical condition.  This is still an ongoing investigation.
