Taze Moore signs with Canadian pro basketball team

Southaven native Taze Moore is about to continue his professional basketball career in Canada.  

Moore, who starred at Southaven High School, has played at the Division I college level with Cal State-Bakersfield and at Houston, then moved into the professional ranks, this season playing in the G League with the Texas Legends and the Rip City Remix before being called up by the Remix’s NBA-parent Portland Trail Blazers for four games at the end of the year. 

It has been announced that Moore has been signed by the Vancouver Bandits of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), a summer league that operates in Canadian cities.

Before his call up to Portland, Moore played 22 games for the Remix, where he averaged 15.6 points, 7.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game on 49.8 percent shooting from field goal range over 22 games played.

“I am excited to be part of the Vancouver Bandits family and to work relentlessly toward winning a CEBL championship,” Moore said in a news release from the Bandits.

Moore turned pro in 2022 after playing five seasons of NCAA Division I basketball at the University of Houston (2021-22) and Cal State-Bakersfield (2016-21). He averaged 10.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 30.1 minutes per game for a Houston Cougars squad that advanced to the Elite Eight at the 2022 NCAA tournament. Moore also won the 2022 NCAA slam dunk contest.
