Former Northwest basketball standout Jitarious “Ty” Gordon has made quite the impact in his two seasons with ERA Nymburk, but his crowning achievement came last week, when Gordon was voted as the Most Valuable Player of the Kooperativa NBLA Final Series.
Gordon, a native of Tunica, helped ERA Nymburk to the National Basketball League championship, the franchise’s 19th title. ERA Nymburk won the final series in five games over SLUNETA Ústí nad Labem, including an 81-66 victory in the series-clincher.
In the five-game series, Gordon averaged 17 points, including a series-best 29 points in an 85-78 victory in Game 4 of the series. In that contest, Gordon also collected eight rebounds and seven assists.
Since closing out a stellar senior season at Nicholls State, Gordon was snubbed in the 2022 NBA Draft and was later selected by the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G-League Draft, but did not make the final roster. However, the Horn Lake High School alumnus has since made a name for himself overseas, spending professional stints in Lithuania and Estonia before landing with ERA Nymburk.
Founded in 1930, ERA Nymburk is a historic franchise in the Czech Republic. The organization has won 20 Czech championships and 15 Czech Cups, all since 2004. Notable former players for ERA Nymburk include former University of Memphis standout Darius Washington and 1995 NBA Draft first-round selection George Zidek.
