Lady Rangers soccer moves up in NJCAA rankings

By Brian Lentz, NWCC Sports Information Director

Following last weekend’s 13-0 thrashing of National Park College, the Northwest Lady Rangers have moved up one spot in the latest batch of NJCAA Division II rankings.

Northwest enters the week’s competition at No. 12 in the nation, the NJCAA revealed Monday evening, up one spot from its preseason ranking of 13th. Fellow MACCC foes Holmes and Jones remained at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, following 2-0 starts for both programs and East Central jumped from 18th to 15th with a 1-0 start.

Pima (Ariz.), Phoenix College (Ariz.), Heartland (Ill.) and Muskegon (Mich.) make up the top four teams in this week’s poll. Mineral Area College, the Lady Rangers’ opponent for this Saturday, slipped out of the rankings from 17th to receiving votes.

The Lady Rangers and Mineral Area will kick at 3 p.m. on Saturday, with live coverage on Ranger TV (nwccrangers.com/watch) and live stats.
