Rangers move up in NJCAA baseball rankings

After debuting at No. 18 in last week’s NJCAA Division II Baseball Rankings, Northwest Mississippi Community College has checked in at No. 17 in the latest poll, released Monday afternoon.

Northwest (25-9, 10-2 MACCC) finished the previous week with a 4-1 record, sweeping Holmes and splitting on the road at Hinds. The Rangers led off the week with a rain-shortened 9-8 victory against Rhodes College JV.

Northwest is one of four MACCC teams represented in this week’s edition of the rankings, not including NJCAA Region 23 foe LSU-Eunice, which moved to the No. 1 spot for the first time this season. The previous top-ranked team, East Central, fell to No. 2, followed by fourth-ranked Pearl River and seventh-ranked Jones College.
