Chargers continue to lead First Four prep football teams

Southaven solidified its spot as the top high school football team in DeSoto County with this week’s DeSoto County News First Four.

The Chargers kept the number one position after last Friday’s 27-0 shutout of Olive Branch in the annual Backyard Brawl. Southaven has now won seven straight games to start the season and play at Lewisburg this week.

Northpoint Christian (5-3) held the number two spot in our rankings with the Trojans’ 20-17 TSSAA Division II-AA West Region win at home against Evangelical Christian School last week. The Trojans step out of district play to host Memphis Sheffield in the Northpoint homecoming contest.

DeSoto Central (5-3) held to number three this week with the Jaguars 20-13 victory at Hernando and will host South Panola in a Region 1-6A contest this week at DeSoto Central on Friday night.

Despite the shutout loss to Southaven, Olive Branch stepped into the First Four this week at number four. The Conquistadors look to rebound this week against Center Hill.

Here’s the DeSoto County football schedule for Friday night:

  • Southaven at Lewisburg
  • Columbus New Hope at Lake Cormorant
  • Hernando at Horn Lake
  • South Panola at DeSoto Central
  • Olive Branch at Center Hill
  • Memphis Sheffield at Northpoint Christian
