Two killed, one hurt, in Southaven shooting

A Halloween evening gathering turned deadly in Southaven Saturday night when two people were shot dead and another seriously wounded in an argument.

Officers were called to 1723 Vaught Circle, west of U.S. Highway 51 and south of Stateline Road, shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday night.

It was when they arrived that officers found two victims dead at the scene and another suffering from a gunshot wound. The fatal victims were described as one female and one male.

Those responding to the call started to provide emergency medical treatment and the wounded victim, a male, was rushed to Regional One in Memphis by Southaven Fire/EMS, for treatment.

In the course of their investigation, officers interviewed several people at the scene and discovered the shooting was the result of a family gathering argument that turned into violence. The suspects and victims apparently knew each other, police said.

One person has been arrested in the case, as U.S. Marshals in Memphis Sunday morning located and arrested Jeffery Walker of Memphis without incident at an apartment in Memphis.

It is possible more arrests will be made as the police department used the word “suspects” in their media information about the case.

The investigation into the shooting incident continues. Police did not immediately identify the fatal victims from the shooting incident.
