Southaven swears in 36 students for 2026-27 Mayor’s Youth Council
New members of Southaven’s 2026-27 Mayor’s Youth Council were officially sworn in Sept. 15, according to a post from the City of Southaven. The council includes 36 students representing Southaven High School, DeSoto Central High School and Northpoint Christian School.
The council meets on the second Monday of each month, with meetings rotating among the three high schools. Members also attend one Southaven mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting each month. The council’s sponsors are Timothy Gardner of Southaven High School, Terry Boler of DeSoto Central High School and Danny Mann of Northpoint Christian School.
During the year, council members participate in community service and collaborate on projects intended to make a positive impact within the community. They also represent Southaven at the Mississippi Municipal League Youth Leadership Summit, which is hosted on a different college campus each year.
