One dead in officer-involved shooting in Senatobia Sunday

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place Sunday afternoon in Senatobia. The incident involved officers from Senatobia, but Hernando Police Chief Scott Worsham confirmed Sunday night that at least one officer from his department was also involved.

The shooting took place about 4:30 p.m. on Gilmore Street. One person involved in the incident was fatally wounded, according to the MBI.

No further details were immediately made available.  A local newspaper in Senatobia, the Tate Record, Sunday night was reporting the subject who was shot was unofficially identified as Ronnie Lee Martin of Kentucky, who had been sought there in connection with the disappearance of his estranged wife on Friday. The newspaper quoted Kentucky State Police reports that he had assaulted her in a hotel before leaving with her.

The Lexington Herald Leader newspaper had more on the case, reporting Martin as the deceased victim of the Senatobia standoff.

The report is found on the Tate Record website.

Monday, the Senatobia Police Department provided the following news release regarding the shooting incident.
