Friday update: Officer-involved shooting in Southaven suspects identified

FRIDAY UPDATE: On Friday, March 24, Southaven police said one of the five suspects in this case remains at large. Kyle Dodson turned himself in and is in custody. Michael Harris remains at large.

The Southaven Police Department Thursday morning, March 23, provided the following information updating a case with identities of the suspects sought in an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday morning, March 22.

Travion Hollomon, age 20 of Memphis, was initially arrested and is being charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, along with numerous other felony charges following an overnight incident that started in the area of Stateline and Horn Lake roads shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, March 22.

It was at that time that officers found a stolen Nissan Maxima in the area of Stateline and Horn Lake roads. Detectives in an unmarked vehicle continued to follow the vehicle as it entered Rasco Hills Drive, headed east and then turned around in the area of Running Horse Cove.

A detective left the unmarked vehicle and was in the process of dropping “stop sticks” to stop the stolen car, but was not aware that someone had left the car to try and steal another vehicle.

The detective was shot at, as he was getting out of the unmarked car, returned fire, and the person shooting at him fled on foot.

Police say the stolen vehicle also fled the scene, heading into Memphis with three people inside. Officers continued a pursuit into Memphis and during the chase the officers were shot at by occupants of the stolen vehicle. That vehicle eluded officers and police say the chase is no longer active.

A perimeter was set up in the search for the suspect and Hollomon was found as a result of the perimeter. A BOLO, or “Be On The LookOut,” was also issued for the vehicle that left the scene.

The Southaven Police Department Thursday, March 23, identified the following suspects that were involved in the ambush of Southaven police officers. The Memphis Police Department along with the U.S. Marshal Service, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation have assisted in this investigation.
