Northwest Mississippi Community College spotlights surgical technology student

Northwest Mississippi Community College is spotlighting Shauntia Stevenson of Olive Branch during National Surgical Technologists Week. Stevenson is in her final semester of the Surgical Technology Program at the college’s Oxford Campus.

Before graduation, students in the program complete classroom and laboratory instruction as well as extensive clinical training across a wide variety of surgical specialties. The college said the preparation is designed to ready students to enter the profession.

The college also used the observance to celebrate its students and honor surgical technologists as essential members of the operating room team who play a vital role in patient care.
