A man died and a woman was treated after a shooting Friday at a home in the 7400 block of Fox Tree Lane, the Olive Branch Police Department said.
Chief Carlos Garcia said in a news release that officers from the Olive Branch Police Department and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 1:06 p.m. to a “shots fired” call. The caller told dispatch she had been shot in the hand, Garcia said.
Officers arrived to find a Black man on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound, Garcia said. Officers began rendering aid while other officers secured the residence. Emergency medical personnel continued treatment, and the man later succumbed to his injuries, according to the release.
The woman was treated by EMS and released, and several people in the house were detained, Garcia said. The incident appears to be domestic in nature, and the chief said the case is an active and ongoing investigation. The release was signed by Olive Branch Mayor Ken Adams.
