Fire Chief Danny Scallions will retire June 30, 2026, after 34 years with the Southaven Fire Department and 36 years in the fire service, city officials announced.
Scallions began serving the city in 1992 and rose through the department before being promoted to chief on Jan. 19, 2018, the statement said.
In a statement, city officials praised his leadership, saying, “Thank you, Chief, for exhibiting solid character and exceptional leadership. We will miss you tremendously!”
The statement called Scallions “one of the most respected and most effective leaders in our city’s history,” and said his “humble leadership style, professionalism and attention to detail” helped solve problems and improve operations. Officials added, “Never has he brought a problem to me without an effective solution.”
