Corps of Engineers to hold meeting on flood reduction

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will host a public meeting to inform the public and to solicit comments regarding the release of the revised draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Impact Statement (DIFR-EIS) for the Memphis Metropolitan Stormwater-North DeSoto County Feasibility Study, DeSoto County, Mississippi. The study area lies in the Horn Lake Creek-Nonconnah and Coldwater River basins in DeSoto County, Mississippi. The DIFR-EIS presents potential solutions to reduce damages from flood risk, channel instability, and to improve aquatic habitat in DeSoto County. Study documents can be downloaded from the project website

This public meeting notice is being posted per the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Council of Environmental Quality’s Regulations for Implementing NEPA, Section 1506.6; Public Involvement and the Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 in accordance with provisions of Title 33 CFR Parts 336.1(b)(1) and 337.1; the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106; and Executive Order #12898, Environmental Justice. The USACE invites the public; federal, state, and local agencies; Native American tribes; and other interested organizations to participate in the public meeting and to review and provide comments on the DIFR-EIS.

The public meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on June 2 at the Landers Center, 4560 Venture Drive, Southaven, MS 38671. A virtual presentation will occur simultaneously and will be available via Webex.
