Arrest in Southaven shooting incident

Southaven police say an arrest was made on Wednesday connected to a Tuesday evening shooting incident.

Officers were called to 541 Stateline Road around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday night after a call of a shooting complaint.  Officers, on arrival, found a victim with a wound to the thigh, the result of a road rage incident.

Detectives working the shooting identified a suspect’s vehicle as a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt with Mississippi tag DAK2300.

During the investigation, detectives also learned that a Cortez Darling was seen entering that particular vehicle at another address earlier in the evening, the address identified as 8886 Sweetflag Loop West.

Detectives, SWAT Team and uniformed officers took Darling into custody at the Sweetflag Loop West residence on Wednesday morning.  The vehicle was seized, and a firearm was located in the vehicle.  Darling has been charged with attempted murder and drive-by shooting.
